punch it!

Well I got the bike insured and registered yesterday, but held off going for a ride thanks to the rain.

Today, though, I took it out for a quick rip just down the road and back.

It was equal parts incredible and terrifying.

I stalled it a few times at first because I am used to the shitty ass clutch on the bike I trained with. It's far, far easier to find that friction zone on my bike. Which is a good thing, I just have to adjust and get the feel of it.

I think I will play it safe and just stick to the roads around here for now. I might take it to work still, but just really take'r easy.

Mostly because I am still learning, but also because of the break in procedure I am supposed to follow.

Night/early morning generally equals less people which is a plus, but it also equals darkness, which isn't. I could actually just do laps around the parking lot (since it is empty) when my shift is over, which actually sounds appealing. I guess I'll see how I feel later.

I also think my helmet is just a TAD too large. There is a little too much movement when shoulder checking for my liking.

Not horrible, but it was enough to bother me.

Thing is I tried on smaller ones that were far too tight and ones that were far too large, so I took the in between size. Maybe it is the best it gets for my gigantic head.

yissssir

Well hello again,

My brother and I started our motorcycle training course on Monday, continued Tuesday and today I passed the skills evaluation and then went and did my written portion and I now officially have my class 6 license.

Overall it was an awesome experience. I was nervous and scared at first, but the people there were all cool. Old people, young people they were all there for the same reason, so it was fun.

The instructors were great too. They were all nice and respectful and very informative, but laid back enough not to make it feel so stressful.

I'm glad it's over, because it was quite literally 8 hours of riding on both Monday and Tuesday and it is tiring as hell. I feel like I didn't even have my regular days off, but it was worth it.

On the test bits, the only part I had trouble with was the figure eight because I put my foot down and that means you have to start over. Mostly my nerves, but also because the bike had a seriously shitty clutch. I didn't want to switch bikes though, because I had been using the same one for the past two days and was somewhat used to it.

Tomorrow I will go and register my bike and get insurance so hopefully I can get some ride time in and see how smoothly that goes.

Hopefully I'll get to ride it a fair amount before it gets too cold/snows.

I'm gonna be taking it real, real, real easy at first. I might get brave and ride it to work tomorrow night, but we shall see.

over and out.

update.

Well kids, Today my brother and I purchased some Motorcycles.

"But Dan", you might say, "do you even have a motorcycle license?"

No, my friend, I do not. I have, however been wanting to get one for the past few summers, and while it's a little late, I will be trying to do just that hopefully as soon as possible.

My brother and I will be taking a training course and such to get some practice in and all.

Anyway, I opted for a Suzuki GS500F (that's me in blue/white) and my brother got a Suzuki
GSXR-750.

I didn't want anything too fancy or expensive...or powerful, so I got a simple model after reading a lot of reviews saying that it makes for a great first bike because it handles easily but still has enough power that you won't get bored with it too quickly.

Brother's bike is a beast because he needs the flash and the power, or so he thinks. It is beautiful, but aside from not really wanting to kill myself on something like that, I also didn't want to spend too much.

and yes, I am aware of the "motorbikes are death traps" attitude. For the record I don't plan on being a moron or pulling any seriously dangerous shit.

That is, assuming I even get a license to ride the thing. I have a terrible track record on tests of any kind.

Still, at least I have some inspiration now.

PS. Tropic Thunder was pretty awesome.

you know. Stuff.

Well, so Russia is tearing shit up in Georgia (not the state) and I for one applaud them. (hint: not really)

It's funny how Bush and his friends can publicly condemn this but keep on bombing shit all over the world.

Well played, dudes.

Anyway, I hope they don't stop there and take over the rest of the world. America next, hopefully. (Hint: really)

I decided, just now, thanks to a conversation with Stephanie that I would start smoking under these circumstances:

1. Zombie invasion.
2. Russian invasion.
3. Anytime post apocalypse. if I survive what is coming.
4. If some dude starts cutting off another dudes head while I'm riding a greyhound bus.

what now?

why don't more girls wear dresses these days? what is the deal, women?

It's really kind of sad.

I don't mean big frilly fancy dresses I mean simple summery dresses. That shit is A-ok in my books. Also hot.

The way it gently clings to their fresh skin in the summer breeze as their hair blows gently while they walk barefoot through the cool grass showing off their sweet, smooth legs and...

well I better go bathe.

Ti...tle....

I have nothing to say, so I thought I'd post these new and incredible Watchmen posters because they are awesome:

The Comedian and Rorschach ones are the best if you axe me.

well they are all great. I don't think I've ever seen a movie look so close to the source material in all my days. It's cool. There's more to making a great film than that, though. So here is hoping it all comes together.

Yup.

see ya.
