this and that.

I guess I'll update.

I guess I'd be expected to comment on Heath Ledgers death, but I think this article says all I'd say.

Despite that, I am more depressed about it than I should be. I'm not sure why. Perhaps it's my excitement for the Dark Knight and his role in it. It's gonna be slightly awkward watching it now...

It's just a fucking shame is all.

Moving on...

That Terminator TV series is officially fucking terrible. Seriously bad. Dear TV people, Please stop trying to cash in on previous awesomness by producing this shit.

I only saw one episode and tried real hard to like it...but no dice. I can't pretend, even as a Terminator fan it sucked balls.

Also that Jpod show seems to suck a whole lot of cock too. Stick to the book, people.

Now for something that doesn't suck balls:

This is one of the coolest, most beautiful and relaxing games ever made.

Basically, all you have to do is scuba dive in the ocean and explore. That's the game. no time limits, no killing, no high scores just exploring.

Of course there is more to the game. You take on jobs, like acting as a guide and showing people certain areas, or obtaining sunken treasure and so on.

Really though, the cool part is just diving and finding all the creatures to add to your Encyclopedia. It's kind of eerie diving straight down 100 feet and seeing the outline of a shark come into view, but also incredibly awesome.

You can also listen to your own mp3 files off as SD card when you dive, so next time I'm gonna try some Hammock or Stars of the Lid.

I can feel my blood pressure dropping already. It's like therapy!

Anyway, worth looking into if you want something different, even though lots of people apparently don't.

My enemies I fear not, but protect me from my friends.

Between watching documentaries about suicide, Brian Jones/Jonestown, David Koresh/Waco and also reading a shit load about Jack the Ripper my mom is starting to think I'm fucked in the head.

She doesn't really, of course. She just likes to bug me, but I think she wonders, if only slightly, why I watch or read these things.

It is because they are some of the most thought provoking and simply interesting subjects to me. There's no other reason.

And in the end, it's all part of history. I don't see the harm in wanting to educate myself on such subjects.

In other movie news Sunshine is fucking incredible.

If I had seen this in theaters when it came out I would have declared it my favourite movie of 2007.

Well, it still could be, technically.

The characters, the mood, the music, the visuals...everything about the movie was incredible. Even if you generally hate sci-fi films you should check it out because it is pretty intense.

That's all I've got.

jesus.

Well I just watched one of the most open and haunting movies I've ever seen.

The Bridge is a documentary about suicide jumpers on the Golden Gate bridge. This crew set up cameras during almost every minute of daylight. They filmed the bridge, often focusing in on random people walking, or leaning over the railing.

You start to wonder which of these people are just simply walking and taking in the view and which are contemplating suicide.

All told there are several very real shots of people leaping to their death from the bridge and also interviews with the families and friends of the deceased, even some survivors of the jump.

I guess you could argue that it's a voyeuristic and sort of sick kind of movie...but I didn't find that to be the case. I found it absolutely mesmerizing, haunting and pretty moving.

It really makes you wonder how someone gets into that zone and what the hell they must be thinking as they climb over that railing. My mind cannot even begin to process that, so the movie is incredibly shocking and bold, but doesn't try to be preachy.

There are scenes where someone is about to jump and you clearly see other people in the background simply pass by and it really makes me wonder how a person even deals with that.

In one bit, they capture a photographer as he literally grabs a girl right before she jumps and pulls her back over the railing. This guy goes on to explain that as the girl gets taken away she shoots him a glare as if to say "you son of a bitch" and I really don't know what I'd do in that situation.

It's an incredibly fascinating and film that surely raises many questions about ethics versus film making and entertainment.

We see these people at the lowest and darkest moments they've ever felt hesitating and thinking right until the very end...and it's there for us to watch.

Somehow it's not like other movies though. It's hard to explain, but I don't consider it entertainment in the way most movies are...it's something else, but it's nearly impossible to look away.

This movie will be etched into my brain for a long, long time.

I'm going to try and sleep now.
