GAEMS!

Finally played FEAR 3 (I refuse to type F3AR, fuck you) and the entire thing leaves with so many mixed feelings.

The series is actually one of my favourites. Why? awesome feeling gunplay and scares = my type of game.

I found the second game to be a bit of a letdown, but that stemmed mostly from the fact that it felt like a console game ported to the PC.

So I was pretty cautious of this one. In fact I never bought it, I simply rented it, and in doing so had to play it on a console. To my surprise the gameplay still felt great. Really fun time.

What I disliked is more nitpicking and storywise, I guess.

I never wanted to see Point man, it just doesn't seem necessary to me, and I loved the sort of mystery, thankfully they didn't give him a voice...but who they did give more of a voice to is Fettel, and it is annoying.

The idea of them teaming up is sort of eyeroll inducing on its own, but whatever, I can get with that (given the co-op focus)...but in this game he's almost a joker who does nothing. Doesn't feel evil, doesn't scare me any more. Makes wise cracks. Yawn.

I didn't like it. nor did I like his redesign.

I dislike how convoluted the story has become. You could argue it was never really anything other than that...and I wouldn't argue with you...but each game tries to just pile shit on and it hasn't really worked for me.

And the big one for me...it just isn't scary. The atmosphere comes through at certain points in the game...but it never really lasts. Not like the first game did.

I can remember being quite shaken at multiple points while playing through the original. Not so much here, which is a shame.

Maybe it's the direction the games have to take. Whatever.

In the end it is a game that plays a lot better than I expected. It's FUN, no doubt about that, but all it TRULY made me want to do was go play the first one again.

...and then perhaps give project origin another shot. The more I think about it the more positive memories I have about it.

Closing thought: these games are still a million times more fun than this Call of Duty shit, so I can't complain too much.

oh, and speaking of Call of Duty, who the fuck needs those games when shit like this is on the horizon?

un-fucking real. LOOK AT THAT SHIT.

I actually got an invite to the Alpha test and got to play the game for about a week. Didn't spend as much time with it as I'd hoped, but man was it shaping up nicely.

Game is going to be incredible.

Nothing to add.

I feel this thing needs an update.

I feel I have nothing to say.

It stormed last night. I ran out and hastily set up a camera for a time lapse. It turned out pretty cool.

To my surprise I actually captured some lightning strikes. I only noticed them when I had finished the video, so after, I went back to sort through the 3,600 + photos and found them.

Pretty cool to look at. I think it was set to take a picture every 2 (or maybe 3) seconds, so it's pretty awesome, I thought.

Oh, and the video itself, which also features double rainbows rolling in near the end and some pretty awesome cloud movement:
