Art

Well, while my good friend Trevor brought me back a wicked cool poster from when he was in Calgary.

That is fucking cool. And hot.

This is mainly a post to thank Trevor (thanks pal!) but I'll go on anyway.

I'm no art connoisseur, but this is the sort of stuff I might actually collect if I had any room to put it, seriously. Forget all that abstract "this is a blob of colours" artsy fartsy shit. This is cool stuff. Yes, because the girls are hot, but it's beautiful and of awesome quality too.

It's done by Victoria Frances who, apparently, does all gothic/girl stuff. So it's a hot girl who creates hot girls. Everyone is a winner here.

Even my mom liked it. I showed it to her and all she said was "wow, that's REALLY pretty" and I'd have to agree.

Oh she also suggested I frame it or something. Perhaps I will.

Anyway, thanks Again T-bone. We should become art collectors, start wearing turtle necks and drink nothing but starbucks while spouting off about artists we hate.

Back to bed with me, I guess.

Goodnight moon.

Glad you liked it. I have that exact same one hanging on my wall. Along with a bunch of Luis Royo stuff. That kind of art I enjoy, its hot, its dark, menacing, disturbing, thought provoking and all in all well done. I can see my place in the future covered with stuff like that.

I thought about getting some of that stuff framed too, but I would kind of feel like a tool dropping it off you know, not every day the framing guy in spruce grove is going to have a customer who brings drawings of women kissing in blood, or splattered in blood for that manner, hahahahaha.

Next time I’m down their ill buy out the whole Luis Royo collection for you, I was kind of obsessed with his stuff until I pretty much acquired them all.

Also if you’re interested in getting more check out this site, http://www.allposters.com/-st/Luis-Royo-Posters_c48590_.htm they will frame them for you to.

Yeah I was looking at allposters for more. They have some good stuff. But I'm running out of room on my walls. I guess it's time to move some stuff around.

As for framing, I think I'll too lazy and it gets pretty expensive.

I'll at least get some of those plastic sheets (I don't know what you call them) and put it in there though, this way at least it won't get all bent out of shape, plus they are cheap enough from wal mart and whatnot.

One or two of those posters would be pretty cool, but looking at a bunch of Ms. Frances' art, I find that its actually rarer to find a girl who isn't completely smeared with running eyeliner.

I guess it's just a personal taste in art, that's all. I'm more of a fan of clean, sharp lines and such. Don't get me wrong, I still like some of the Gothic style, but in doses.

Hm. Of course... hot vampire girls. Mmm mmm.

Smeared eyeliner is hot, although i do see what you mean. Too much isnt good either.

I have something like 200 posters ive been collecting for a few years now. I swear the minute i get my own place, tastefully picked gothic art mixed with film posters is all your going to see, maybe some of my own photography, but none of this "artsy fartsy shit" hahaha man i laughed when i read that.

I dunno. I don't think goth art is any less artsy fartsy than Rothko paintings or Andy Warhol's pop art.

I tend to go for simple and bold. Bold in lines or colour..or both.

A person could roll their eyes at all art for one reason or another, if you ask me.

Anyway.

That is a very pretty poster.

This is true. So I don't really get into it, but still I think someone having a taste in something like a blob of colour and then going on about what it means... or how nice it is because it has "clean and sharp lines" (sorry Raine) is bizzare.

You know how much I like contemporary stuff like blobs of colours, but unless I'm just bullshitting someone, I don't interpret them. I just enjoy their simplicity.

Everyone is entitled to their own interpretations of art, so there really is no wrong answer. For me id take the poster of say "The corpse Bride" over a blob anyday. Then again im not really an art guy i just surround my world with things i like.

Speaking of art i was in Rona last year, and i came accross a framed wall size Photograph of lightning hiting a tree at night. If only had the $100 + to buy it. That to me is art, not blobs or splatters of paint, and speculation.

no word of a lie, i have a cousin who buys "art" so everytime im over at his place i look at his massive collection, he once told me that one of his was worth and upword to $5000, $5000 and it looked like someone just threw up paint all over a canvas, but hey everyone to their own.

Hehe, I was trying to draw a contrast to smears of blood and black eyeliner everywhere.

I dislike blobular art as much as the next sane person, what I was referring to is something like this and this.

The first one is very much alike to Frances' work, but the second one... it looks ruler-sharp. I like that.

As with all things though, I enjoy variety.
