A while ago my younger bought a cheap remote controlled airplane, like a $20 deal. It was incredibly fun to piss around with but we broke it on Monday, so we were off to actually go get a better one when we found some even cooler shit.

Nitro powered RC cars.

So we went from wanting a cheap plane to a bitchin' monster truck.

After looking at all the models and bugging the guy to open the boxes on three or four of them to show us we decided to get one and split the cost.

There were models there proudly displaying "up to 70 MPH!" which made me salivate. But being out here we decided to settle on a 4WD truck so that we could haul ass everywhere.

So we bought it and went home. After the break in period (which is fun but also agonizing) we finally got to open her up and holy FUCK it is incredible how fast these things move.

I've used one before but it was a lot smaller than this one.

I now believe the "55+ MPH" claim on the box. We don't have the room or traction (some pavement would be nice) to necessarily get it going that fast, but it could easily do it.

The thing actually has two gears and once it kicks into the high one it's downright frightening at times.

Super badass

That night became one of the most enjoyable I've had for a long time. It might sound silly, but they really are just toys for older people and as such it brought me back to times when stuff like this was all that mattered.

You know, in between kicking up gravel after power sliding down the driveway and catching air driving through the ditch.


Anyway, it might develop into another (expensive) hobby because it's so damn fun.
