whatever.

"The only appropriate attitude for man to have about the big questions, is not the arrogant certitude that is the hallmark of religion, but doubt. Doubt is humble and that is what man needs to be, considering that human history is just a litany of getting shit dead wrong. "

So I just finished watching Religulous a documentary about Bill Maher investigating/refuting/questioning religions around the world and I have to highly recommend it to everybody because it was great and thought provoking. Also hilarious.

The guy is fearless in his questions and making people look like the morons they are.

I know people will argue that it paints a picture of religious people being crazy...but guess what, they are.

It also brings up an issue I've always thought was funny (in that sad kind of way) and that's how people of a certain religion, such as Christianity, you know, the ones who believe in a man in the sky causing miracles, the garden of Eden and a fucking talking snake think other religions like Scientology are insane.

Seriously. What the fuck is that?

I could write pages and pages about this film but I think people should just watch it.

On a less serious topic Trevor and I saw Underworld: rise of the lycans the other night and here is my 10 word review:

Decent, but needed more Kate Beckinsale in tight leather.

Now, I am going to bed. Fuck this.

"Decent, but needed more Kate Beckinsdale stripping out of tight leather."

Fix'd.

Also. People are just nuts period. They don't need religion to help that, although it does make for a pretty convenient excuse at times.

I saw a preview for that and wanted to watch it. Even the preview made me laugh quite a bit.

I think I'll put it in the queue and make mom watch it with me. She'll get a kick out of it and have some very interesting things to say when it's over.

Kate Beckinsale made those movies for me. It was still good but nowhere near as good as the other two.

I saw a preview for Religulous it looked good.

With what you said people can go to far with religions be it Christianity, Muslim, or any of them for that matter.

For the most part I don't think its crazy trying to find meaning in why we are here.

I just think people need to keep an open mind when it comes to Religion, believe, but do be an idiot about it.

People are indeed just crazy to begin with, but Religion turns crazy people into complete lunatics, lunatics who start wars over it, or kill people because of it.

I think the movie more or less says you are an idiot if you believe in what basically equates to a fairy tale.

Really. He talks to smart people who for whatever reason, believe something that only a kid would believe. I think it really is strange.

I also hate the people who just "believe" but are unwilling to discuss it or question it.

Human beings are so, so fucking strange.

It's not just religion, though I get what you're saying.

Any cause can become one to kill for. World War 2 was a good example.

That's why nowadays, there's so many people who don't have an opinion or a belief or whatever.

Religion might be fucking dumb, but on the flip side, worldwide apathy is hardly a much better alternative.

Of course it isn't just religion, but this post is about religion so that's what I am on about, is all.

If the two are related, I'll take apathy over some crazies telling me what to believe and how to live. I don't think that makes things any better for anyone except the preaching idiots who think they have all the answers.

now about that Kate Beckinsale stripping out of tight leather...

that shit should be a religion.

I dunno man, there are crazies without religion. Some of the Athiests out there are just as fucked in the head.

Wars are started over much less than religion, Ie OIL, Domination, money. We are all born with innate form of destruction in us it doesn't take much to set that off.

Personally i don't believe that religion is really the main cause of any war. Money and greed are, land and resources are.

Religion is just an convenient scape goat that is used to cover a main agenda. The points stated above.

For me i don't really care what you believe or don't, i just want people to uphold humanity over all else.

In conclusion, the film your talking about it is probably a subjective view on the subject.

I can go out make a movie on postal workers shooting up people and right away people would generalize that all postal workers are crazy and are going to shoot people.

Kind of what people do with religion.

Movies are for entertainment, maybe thought provoking at times, but a far cry from reality.

That's my two cents anyway.

I was just trying to make the point that religion throughout all of this has probably caused more shit than good.

I am very well aware wars are caused and fought over many diffrent things, you are kind of missing the point or something.

I don't know if religion is a scapegoat as much as it is just useless, but I digress.

We are talking about Kate Beckinsale now!
