I hate Cell phones.

Or cell phone providers. I really do.

Here's the story:

Ever since I got my new phone and switched to Rogers I've been amazingly happy with the phone itself, the service/speeds and so on...but I am not happy about the bills I've been getting and their fees for anything extra.

I KNOW that as soon as you get any device considered to be a "Smart Phone" you have to add a data plan, (which is $40 a month minimum or whatever) and then you have to add the other bits of your plan that you want.

I accepted that fact when I signed up, expecting my monthly bills to be around $65.

The first month I got a huge ass bill, partly because you always do for your first month, but also because according to them their "unlimited text messages" plan only includes texts within Canada.

Send one anywhere else and it will cost you 25 cents. 25 cents per tiny, insignificant piece of data.

It might not sound like a lot, but it's the fact that you get charged at all the pisses me off. Telus never charged me extra when I was with them.

Of course it wouldn't be so bad, but Stephanie won't stop sexting me. It's outrageous.

And then there's the fact that they have probably the worst website design in the history of the fucking internet making it nearly impossible to find information on what you're looking for.

my bills have been around $80-$130 since I signed up with them and I'm kind of sick of it. Maybe you pay for better service and this is what it costs, right?

yeah, maybe, but then I start to thinking about how little I really use my phone in the first place and begin dreaming of just chucking it and not getting another one ever again.

As it stands I am probably going to hit up the Rogers store this week and ask some questions about changing my plan to save me some cash because I'm not paying this money for a phone I don't even really use.

If I can't get something a little more sensible ironed out I will probably just pay the cancellation fee (which I found out is a maximum of $400) and be phone free for a while because not only am I bitter, but I'm in the process of trying to SAVE money and pay off debts, not spend it on invisible shit like cell phone plans.

I may also consider going back to Telus who have better plans, or at least plans that are A LOT more clear and easy to understand.

I'd love to get one of these bad boys when they come out here, because I want to play around with an android based phone, but...meh.

I hated Telus at the time I switched, because their service out here is beyond pathetic, but looking back, all I had at the time was a generic cdma phone so that might be why.

Also, apparently they have upgraded their network recently and it is now the most advanced in Canada...we'll see though. i had their mobile 3G internet thing for a few months and their coverage was pathetic.

On the whole, though, I think all Canadians should be pissed off at the rates we are subjected to, with little or no competition, they a pretty much not going to come down anytime soon and instead we'll all just continue to get raped in the ass by fees that are straight out of fucking 1996, like cell phones are just catching on and they know we'll pay.

Fuck them all and their stupid fucking contracts too.

I should just go back to using my old piece of shit and paying $30 a month.

I am at the same stage. I want a smart phone but i dont really justify "NEEDING ONE".

I've been with rogers since 2001 and went through 3 upgrades with them, every time they told me "NEWER TECHNOLOGY = BETTER SERVICE" They were full of shit every time. Kind of why im doing a bit of research this time before i plunk down any sum of cash on any provider/phone.

I get that us txt message shit to. When we went to New york, i didn't call anyone, i just txt messaged and checked my email every day. Just doing that spiraled my $58 a month to well over $130.

I just think cell phones are turning into portable apple computers, you pay up the ass for it and in reality you dont get much for it. Considering you could pay $58 a month for a broadband connection and can do every thing your $130 cell phone can

I dunno, I might just get a wimpy one just so i can do basic stuff and use it in emergencies.

Still though reading the spec list on that new Android from Google kind of sounds pretty damn cool.

haha...LIES. It's not always SEXting ;)

Go back to Telus! Or add that thing to your plan you were talking about before and see how your bills are. You don't text me back that often...it just doesn't make sense.

Drag them out and shoot them.

"Unlimited texting" isn't really unlimited if it's in Canada only. In the advertisements, it would show up as UNLIMITED TEXTING************

With about six hundred pounds of subtext underneath it explaining that by unlimited, they actually mean it's not unlimited at all, and they're going to rape you for it.

Of course, that's not the case. So I say you take back your cash in equivalent value of warm, flayed flesh.
